Video: Inside the BMW M3’s V8
Ever since Industrial Light and Magic dropped Jurassic Park onto the scene, it’s rare to see a movie, TV show or advertisement that doesn’t involve some form of CGI. It’s amazing what can be done by a handful of programmers and a case of RedBull, but something gets lost in translation when computerized effects are used in place of their analog forbearers. The advertising firm IdeaCity recognized this and melded high-tech wizardry with old-school filmmaking to create an absolutely beautiful ad for BMW’s new M3. The edifice for the spot began with a tour of BMW’s M facility in Munich, where the IdeaCity crew studied the inner workings of the M3’s 4.0-liter V8.

Video: Alfa 159 GTA spied at the ‘ring
Alfa’s 159 GTA sedan has been caught by a spy photographers testing near Germany’s Nurburgring circuit ahead of its sales launch pegged for early next year. Up against established leaders like the BMW M3, Audi RS4 and Mercedes C63 AMG in the performance sedan market, the hotted-up Alfa sedan will be facing an uphill battle as soon as it’s launched. However, the Italian beauty reportedly has some tricks up its sleeve that just may leave its German competitors gasping for breath - most notably a Ferrari-derived V8 engine. The new mill is based on the 4.2L unit from the Maserati Quattroporte and Granturismo and should develop close to 400hp (298kW) in the new GTA.

Video: Dubai gears up for F1-X theme park
Racing is inherent to Formula One, but this kind of race is something different altogether. While Ferrari prepares its theme park in Abu Dhabi, in neighboring emirate Dubai they’re gearing up for the grand opening of the first F1-X theme park. As we previously reported, Dubai-based development company Union Properties secured the rights from Bernie Ecclestone to construct a series of F1 theme parks around the world, and the first, in its home base, is preparing to open its doors around the same time as Ferrari World.
Recently revealed to be called F1-X, the Dubai park will be one of five parts of the MotorCity development – which will also include the Dubai Autodrome, a business park and two luxury condo complexes – forming one pavilion of Dubailand, a sort of Disneyland for the Persian Gulf.

Video: Nissan GT-R GT500 at NisMo Festival
This video is montage covering the recent NisMo festival held in Japan at the end of last year. With enough brawny machinery to satisfy the most die hard Nissan fan, the NisMo event is a must. There are racing Z’s, original PGC10 Skyline’s though to R32’s and R34’s.
The star of the event though would have to be the GT-R GT500. Built to compete in this year’s Japanese SUPER GT series, the Nissan GT-R GT500 is captured in the pits and on track. Loosely based on its road orientated cousin, the GT500 utilises a naturally aspirated VK45 4.5L V8 which is carried over from the 2007 Z GT-500. The choice to use this powerplant in favour of the VR38DETT 3.8L V6 of the road car may prove a prudent decision as the combination of V6 and GR6 automated dual clutch transmission is yet unproven in circuit racing. 2008 marks the return of GT-R to racing, following the transition from the R34 Skyline to the Z coupe five years ago.
